Taking a day trip from Reykjavik to Vik along the southern coast of Iceland is the perfect way to spend a day. You’ll find waterfalls, black sand beaches, and Instagram-worthy churches along the way.
How many days is sufficient in Iceland?
Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls created by volcanic eruptions about 1000 years ago. Visitors can hike the trails or take a short walk behind the waterfalls to enjoy the view. This waterfall is different than the others in Iceland because it’s carved by lava.
Silfra Fissure is a popular day trip from Reykjavik. This is a deep fissure, which is usually 40m deep, but is sometimes as little as 1 meter. The gases erupting from the lava create a crater-like surface.URL : https://ventito.is/things-to-do-in-iceland/day-tours-in-iceland/
Visiting Iceland in the shoulder season is not as busy. The weather is much more stable and it’s a great time to visit. If you’re not keen on hiking, you can take an optional boat trip to the black sand beach or icebergs. Taking a boat trip is not cheap though. The average price for a trip is about 5,000 ISK.
There are many other things to see along the south coast of Iceland. These include the black sand beach, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, and the Snaefellsnes sculpture. These are all worth a visit.
For a more adventurous trip, you can visit an ice cave. Tours are available, but they must be booked in advance. It’s a unique experience. If you’re interested in taking a tour, make sure you pack a warm parka, gloves, and other accessories.
